Admissibility and Structure of Legal Services (Particularly Legal Advice) in Institutional Research Data Management Edit

A Study of Legal Framework for Developing Concepts and Expertise for Legal Advice in Research Data Management (RDM), Focusing on First-Level Legal Support in RDM at Academic Institutions in Germany

This study examines legal framework conditions for legal services in institutional research data management (RDM) in Germany. It focuses on what conditions must be met for legal advice to be provided at academic institutions and which models (centralized, decentralized, and two-tiered structures) are suitable for this purpose. Using the Legal Services Act (RDG) as a basis, typical RDM scenarios are analyzed and recommendations for legal support services are developed. This work was conducted as part of the DFG collaborative project FDNext within the subproject at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder).
